Richmond Police Chief Magnus Keeps the Conversation Open
Since taking the helm of the Richmond Police Department in 2006, Chief Chris Magnus has made open dialog between police and the community a priority for his hands-on leadership.
This dedication to transparency and community engagement has come to define the Chief Magnus tenure as head of Richmond Police.
Chief Magnus has also made direct community-engagement a priority. He reorganized patrols so that the same officers spend more time on a particular beat, promoting connection with the neighborhood. Chief Magnus even proposed “beat blogs,” which officers maintain as a way to share information with communities in their patrol area.
For Richmond applauds Chief Magnus and the Richmond Police Department’s community-driven approach to public safety. Collaborative policing helps make our community safer while ensuring that community requests are heard and the dignity of all Richmond citizens is respected.
