Pacific Boat Show comes to Richmond's Craneway Pavilion

RICHMOND -- The Craneway Pavilion continued its steady ascension into a big-time, regional events venue Thursday with the opening of the Strictly Sail Pacific Boat Show.
The show, billed by organizer Sail America as the largest and oldest in-water sailboat show on the West Coast, will be at the pavilion and adjacent Marina Bay Yacht Harbor through Sunday. Entrance is at the foot of Harbour Way South.
Now in its 21st year, the boat show formerly took place at Jack London Square in Oakland.
"We are excited by the opportunity to move to Richmond and into an expansive marina and a beautiful indoor venue that can accommodate the need from our exhibitors and consumers for increased and improved indoor space," Peter Durant, Sail America Association manager, said in a news release.
"Richmond's historic waterfront offers an awe-inspiring panorama of the bay and the San Francisco skyline," he said, noting that the location has room for more than 100 in-water sailboats and more than 200 exhibits for boats and marine accessories on land.
