RICHMOND -- What kind of innovations will make cities more efficient, communities more resilient and residents' lives better?

Find out on Oct. 21 and 22, when some 400 innovation leaders from 25 countries will discuss innovations that could reshape the future of urban areas at the Meeting of the Minds Leadership Summit, to he held at the Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South in Richmond.

In conjunction with the summit is the second annual meeting of the Minds Hackathon, "to provide real solutions that both the (Richmond) mayor's office and citizens can use on a day-to-day basis to improve the city," according to the event website.

"Despite its industrial and cultural contributions to the greater Bay Area, Richmond has -- for decades -- been largely cut off from the region's vibrant economic and technological trends," according to the website for the ninth annual summit. "But a variety of forces are now converging -- and Richmond's time for positive change has perhaps finally arrived."
